Discover the culture of the Caribbean’s largest yet least explored island nation with a tour of the capital city. Just 90 miles off the coast of Florida’s most southern point, the city of Havana and its unique cultural history has long been the forbidden fruit of the tropics for Americans until very recently. Take this exclusive opportunity to explore the well preserved time capsule that is Cuba.

This program features tours of several prominent communities of Havana, including the historic old city, urban downtown area and coastal marina district. Explore the city with local insight to discover the best kept secrets of the capital, from hand-picked paladars for authentic Cuban cuisine to expertly guided tours of the city’s both world renowned and locally acclaimed landmarks.

Day One: Arrive in Havana
Begin your exploration of Cuba as you are welcomed at Jose Marti International Airport by ground transportation and taken to check-in to one of our preferred hotels before enjoying a welcome cocktail reception and program orientation. Conclude the evening with a welcome dinner at a local paladar to enjoy your first taste of contemporary Cuba cuisine while watching one of Cuba’s most prestigious dance companies, Habana Compas Dance.

Day Two: Old Havana
Spend the morning with a tour profiling the great American author Ernest Hemmingway and explore the village and residence that served as the inspiration for some of his most famous works. Visit a scale model of the area before an escorted walking tour through the streets of Old Havana, appreciating the grand colonial architecture that led to its UNESCO designation. Tour a local rum factory to learn about the historical production process and sample the final product.

Day Three: Downtown Havana
Tour the historical sites of downtown Havana with a panoramic bus tour, including the infamous Plaza de la Revolucion, before a visit to the Callejon de Hamel Art Project led by world renowned Cuban artist Salvador Gonzalez. After lunch, the tour continues towards the regional baseball stadium Estadio Latinoamericano, Cementerio de Cristobal Colon, and Fuster Project in Jaimanitas among other culturally significant sites. Wind down with dinner at an elegant paladar and a night of jazz at a local café club.

Day Four: Marina District
Discover the history behind the city’s long standing seaport with a tour of the marina district before visiting a nearby cigar factory to get a closer look at one of Cuba’s most well-known yet limited exports. After lunch, depart for El Morro Castle and explore the fortress built in 1589 to guard the bay of Havana as well as act as a navigational landmark. Spend the last half of the afternoon mingling with locals at a craft market before a vibrant and extravagant show of the Parisien, Havana’s renowned Cabaret fusing Indo-American, Latino, and African cultures.

Day Five: Final Day in Havana
Spend the morning enjoying the local arts and crafts of the region at the market before visiting a nearby community project, Arte y Corte. As a cultural economic initiative, the project unites barbers, hairdressers, and painters alike to transcend beyond their job and into their artistic work. Enjoy the last taste of the island nation at another paladar before you’re transported back to the airport to return home to the United States.
